What is Your Gross National Happiness?
In the 1970's Bhutan's 4th King mandated the state to create an environment for all citizens to pursue their ultimate goal: happiness. He declared that instead of focusing on gross national profit, focus on GROSS NATIONAL HAPPINESS!
Imagine that? If each of us could follow this pathway to reconnecting with our heart's purpose...is it possible that we could create world harmony? And what does listening to our body have to do with world peace, you ask? Everything. As we numb our senses, we tend to shut down our connection to ourselves, nature and our environment. Our ability to empathize with each other and our connection to our individual sense of happiness also decreases. I believe that happiness can begin with one breath. Breath is oxygen and like happiness everyone can share it. And yes, both are infectious...if you let it.
One of the first things I do with clients is teach them how to breathe. Sure we all do a version of breathing, but sometimes we forget the importance of breathing effectively and how it affects the way we think, move, stand, sit, interact with others. But did you also know it affects how we initiate a task, cope with life transitions, initiate back injury preventions, recover from MVA traumas, cope with PTSD.... I could go on and on. So, breathing can effectively increase your happiness and overall wellbeing. That's a start isn't it? Are you ready?
